A new club has opened in Folkestone, Kent.
Mushin no Shin Aikido is ran by Julian Goldsmith, 3rd dan, Robert Darling, 1st dan and Paul Smith, 1st dan.
“Hopefully our aikido club will encourage people to be free to explore principles and applications safely and without the fear of causing offence.
Our club name evokes this spirit in that it is about being open, having no ego or preconceptions and being free within one’s self to develop as a student on the path of Aikido, open to fresh ideas and approaches within the basic principles underpinning all Aikido.
In setting up our club we have tried to be open and democratic in our dealings with everyone and it is our hope that it will continue in that way. We have no time for politics or personal jealousies or any of the other things that can sour a club. We want to give people space and help them to learn as we have done and continue to strive to do. We will set high standards and encourage our students to attain them in their own time and at their own pace.
Hopefully in future times our students will come back to teach us!“

The first training session at Genryukan Aikido proved to be a great success.
Christophe Courtin Sensei and his team of instructors (Tom Davey, Phil Eyers and Eoin Kerrigan) received some help and support from Jim Dempster Sensei from Gowaryu Aikido. Despite some initial teething problems with the venue, the lesson went smoothly thanks to the support of the student from Deal and Ashford’s club.
“The feedback from the beginners was excellent and this session was an great start for the club!” declared Christophe Courtin Sensei. “Thankyou to all the students from Gowaryu and Katsujinken Aikido who came to support us tonight, and well done to all the beginners who performed extremely well.“
